James E. Lauth has practiced law for over 30 years - for the first two years as a corporate associate with Gibson Dunn & Crutcher, then for eight years practicing exclusively in trusts and estates as an associate and partner with Gray Cary Ware & Freidenrich (now DLA Piper US LLP), and now as a founding partner of Beamer, Lauth, Steinley & Bond, LLP. He is certified by the California State Bar as a specialist in Estate Planning, Trust and Probate Law, and has been selected for inclusion in San Diego Super Lawyers and The Best Lawyers in America each year since 2007. Jim has been a member of the Executive Committee of the Trusts and Estates Section of the State Bar of California. Jim received his B.A. degree from the University of Michigan, his Doctor of Musical Arts degree from Columbia University, and his Juris Doctorate degree from Columbia Law School, where he served on the Law Review. He has been active in San Diego charitable organizations, including KPBS (San Diego Public Broadcasting), La Jolla Symphony & Chorus Association, the Walden Family Services Foundation, the San Diego Symphony, the Anti-Defamation League, the San Diego Natural History Museum, the Institute for Arts Education, the San Diego YMCA, and the Mercy Hospital Foundation.
